  • Project: Logo/Badge Design

  • Client: Zoring Park

  • Service/industry: Footwear

Brief

The Duck Boots is famously known as the perfect boots for hunting, fishing and camping since last century. Its unique design style is to combine the waterproof rubber boots with flexible leather boots into one shoe, which can prevent people from getting wet feet in the woods or arctic area.

The Zoring Park edition of Duck Boots is the first product of the company’s new footwear line. It is made in collaboration with Dong Xi Lab, which is a professional and sustainable footwear company. This version of Duck Boots is a high-quality reproduction of the original Duck Boots, also known as the L. L. Bean Boots.

Challenge

The challenge is to design a logo with an American retro style for the Duck Boots. The design task only contains the English version of the brand’s name, which is “Zoring Park”.

Mood board: The history and origin of Duck Boots.

Back in 1911, the inventor of Duck Boots, L. L. Bean was a hunter and a fisherman who would spend a lot of time in the Maine woods. The invention of Duck Boots came from a single, yet crucial problem, which is to prevent people from getting wet feet after hunting or fishing in the woods. And the way he solved this problem is by stitching the best parts from rubber boots and leather boots together. He wanted to invent the perfect hunting shoes.

Design Keywords: American retro, Freeform typography, Funky.

The logo/badge design is inspired by the freeform typography from the 70s. It presents a flowy freeform style with curly ends and rounded edges. This particular typography style gives this logo a vintage feeling, which is what this brand and its customers want.

“This boot could keep my feet warm and dry while on a raining day. Besides that, I quite like the logo and packaging design.”
